In the eyes of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons, designer Keith Helfet was a natural. Sir William recognised in Keith someone who regarded cars as sculptures-on-wheels and who instinctively appreciated how to make Jaguars look as if they were in motion even when standing still. As Jaguar’s Chief Stylist, Keith was responsible for the XJ220 supercar, XK180 concept car, and 1990s F-type concept. We’re looking forward to hearing some of Keith’s stories about those designs when he steps onto the stage at the XK70 Jaguar Festival as a very welcome Guest of Honour.

Darkest Hour, the name given to the movie about Churchill’s leadership of a nation facing an existential threat, could also be the title of a story about Jaguar. In the place of Sir Winston Churchill, the starring role would belong to Sir John Egan - and with Sir John now confirmed as a guest of honour at this June’s XK70 Jaguar Festival, it’s worth reflecting how he saved the marque from extinction. Here are eight good reasons why Sir John so richly deserves his knighthood.

The simple answer is that the seductively swoopy XK120 still turns heads, still wins hearts, and still makes people smile. But there’s more. After making a splash on its debut at the London Motor Show in 1948, for decades afterwards the XK120 and the XK engine continued to send ripples far and wide. Here are five good reasons why.
