XJ220 and XJR15 owners
Please contact Don Law at email@example.com or 01782 413875 for details of the superb XJ220 and XJR15 display at XK70.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust will be bringing three cars to the Festival. Two very important historic XK120s - NUB 120 - famously rallied by Ian and Pat Appleyard and winner of the Coupe 'Or, and LWK 707 the 'Montlhery' car which was driven at over 100 mph for 7 days and 7 nights, round the Montlhery track near Paris, by a team of drivers, including Jack Fairman, Bert Hadley, Leslie Johnson and Stirling Moss. The JDHT will also be bringing the last XK-engined car to leave the factory and the plan is to take all three of the cars up the hill over the weekend.
Other cars include the TWR XJ220C driven by David Coulthard, David Brabham and John Nielsen at Le Mans in 1993; XJR-5 road and race cars built by TWR, with XJR race cars to be driven at speed up the Shelsley Walsh course by Goodwood Hillclimb winner Justin Law; the JD Classics collection of historic XKs, some to be driven up the hill by Chris Ward; the full range of Special Edition Eagle E-types; and Eagle’s historic collection of important E-types.
Also coming to XK70 are three of Jaguar’s legendary Group C racing cars, including the 1987 World Sportscar Championship-winning XJR-8; XK120s, 140s, and 150s; and a whole raft of XK-engined cars including C-types, D-types, E-types, and XJ6s. Cars are being brought to the Festival by owners who live in the UK, mainland Europe, Scandinavia, and the USA. The event’s organisers, the XK Club, are aiming to set a world record by gathering 700 classic XKs in the same place at the same time.
Two guests of honour will be Sir John Egan, the Chairman of Jaguar from 1980 to 1990 who saved the company from bankruptcy, and Keith Helfet, the former Chief Stylist at Jaguar who designed the XJ220 supercar, the XK180 concept car which commemorated the XK’s 50th anniversary, and the 1990s F-type concept. Another well-known personality at the Festival will be Edd China, former presenter of Discovery Channel’s hit TV programme ‘Wheeler Dealers’, filming his new series and taking questions in a session of 'Ask Edd LIVE'.
Other notable personalities attending the XK70 Jaguar Festival include former amateur racing driver Peter Sargent ; Peter Sutcliffe who raced a D-type and Lightweight E, and drove GTOs and GT40s at Le Mans.; Richard Attwood, who raced for several British teams in Formula One before winning Le Mans in a Porsche 917 in 1970 and Norman Dewis OBE who was chief test driver and development engineer for Jaguar Cars from 1952 to 1985. Norman drove an XK120 at a record-setting 172.412 mph in '53, raced a D-type at Le Mans in '55, crashed the XJ13 (when a tyre failed) in '71, and was involved in developing every XK-badged or XK-engined Jaguar.
Newly confirmed guests are Justin Law - the Hillclimb Shootout winner at the Goodwood Festival of Speed no fewer than six times, always at the wheel of glorious racing Jaguars - so when he drives XJR racers up the Shelsley Walsh hill at the Festival, it's going to be a sight to behold. We are also delighted that Pat Appleyard will be with us for the weekend. Pat is the daughter of Jaguar Founder Sir William Lyons. Pat famously rallied a white Jaguar XK120 partnership with her then-husband, Ian Appleyard. Together they won Alpine Cups in 1950, '51 and '52.
The Festival promises a packed programme of entertainment for all the family, with a competitive hillclimb on Saturday and high-speed demonstration runs up the hill on Sunday; a vintage fairground; a shopping village; live music; and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly-past - all in the beautiful hillside setting of the world’s oldest surviving motorsport venue.
All the major Jaguar specialists will be present, including spectacular displays from Classic Motor Cars, J.D Classics, Eagle Racing, Lynx and Hexagon Classics. The remaining trade space is available on a first come first serve basis.

More XK70 News
We have a winning combination for you at the XK70 Jaguar Festival, as we bring together Willie Green – a top historic racing driver whose career spans over 50 years – and RSF 303 - arguably the most original of the long-nose D-types in existence.
Willie and the D-type will be taking part in demonstration runs over both days, and there will also be the opportunity for passenger rides with Willie to raise money for Midland Air Ambulance and PCUK. Watch this space for more details.
